Singapore Traditional Chinese Wedding

Love is in the air~

or the year of 2009, where

Especially in chinese, the digit 9 symbolises "longeivity, forever,久"

Marriage among the "coupled" celebrities, are pretty common.

On a week back, Michelle Chia and Shuan (singapore celebrity) were married and had their wedding shown live on TV. And on 16th Christopher lee and fann wong (another Singapore celebrity couple) were married.

And on the 16th May 2009, my friend held his singapore traditional chinese ceremony wedding. Woke up and reach his house at 715am in the morning. (I don't even wake up that early for work!)

Gathered at the void deck of his gf (or rather wife) and arrived with the rest of the gang of brothers (Singapore's way of saying close and good friends). We pronounce our arrival with the honking of car horns, giving the residents a morning wake up honk. (=

At the entrance of the bride's house, the gang was let in after giving an ang pow (red packet, which symbolises good luck) to the sisters (bride's gang of close friends).

i was pretty surprised being let in easily just by giving an ang pow as, at the entrance, the groom and gang will usually be asked to perform pranks and tricks before permission was granted to enter the house.

However, as expected, the pranks were to be held inside the house.

Inside, we were made to

- drink a concoction of greenish "healthy and organic" drink.

- Perform a total of 99 push up, which our muscle man, Loh, done 49 for us!!

and the 5 of us just did 10.

- Stick clothes plug to our noses and ears and with the groom, pulling them off at 1 shot! (Pain!)

- Eat raw veggie (forgot the name)

- pulling of 2 strands of hair from our LEG!

- And Finally, getting the groom to sing a love song, before the door to the room of the bride was opened.

After the couple met, they proceed to set off to the groom's parents' house where the chinese tradition of tea serving was served to the various ranks of the groom's family. And vice versa, the groom will visit the bride's family to serve tea. After which, the morning part of traditional chinese wedding and marriage ends.

For all traditional chinese wedding, especially Singapore traditional chinese wedding, a dinner is a must.

The rest of us gathered at night for the traditional chinese wedding dinner. At the dinner which is held at River City Restaurant, the morning pranks was shown to the diners at the wedding dinner, which brought laughter to the crowds.

Finished everything at estimated 1115, though tired, but its a fulfilling day~
