Facebook Bejeweled Blitz Tips and Strategy for Using Boosts

With the updates to bejeweled blitz in January 2010, every facebook bejeweled blitz fanatic knows that popcap introduce 5 new boosts to enable us to increase our score.

But out of the 5 booster gems in the game, which are the ones that really help in increase our score?

Out of my 5, my personal top favorite boosts are in this order.

Multipler, +5 seconds, Mystery Gem, Detonator and Scrambler

But, the first 3 are not already what i chose to spend m y coins on.

Most of the time, i will be purchasing, Multiplier Gem, Mystery Gem and Detonator (Combo 1)

Alternatively, if i feel that i am lucky enough or alert enough, i get Multiplier Gem, Mystery Gem and +5 seconds. (Combo 2)

Bejeweled blitz tips - Instant Multiplier (2x) at ZERO seconds

This is a 100% working method, only if you use combo 1, which happens to be my favorite. As mentioned in this bejeweled strategy guide, purchase Multiplier, mystery gem and detonator gem (Combo 1)

Before the start of the game, detonate the detonator and you have a great advantage into the game with 2x scores!

Why i choose Mystery Gem over +5 seconds or any other Boosts

Simple! Refer to the image below

Notice the 2x and 3x advantage i have from the start of the game?

With mystery gem, i have a higher chance of getting my 3rd multiplier within the first 3 seconds of the game.

If the mystery gem, turns out to be a star, flame or rainbow gem, i have 80% chance of getting my 3rd multiplier within 1s into the game.

To get a multiplier gem, you need to destroy 12 gems or more in a single swap. A star gem clears more than 12 gems. a flame gem clears at least 9 gems. A hypercube averagely clears 8 gems or more.
