Singapore InvestFair 2009 - Kishore PowerUp Capital Review

I went to the investfair at suntec and it was not as crowded as PC Fair, which was a good thing. However, most of the people there seems to be interested in collecting freebies and are of spill over crowds from the job fair in the next convention hall.

First talk i attended was the options talk by optionxpress, which i say, bored me, because i haven had a single irk what the speaker was speaking about, and knowing that it is something like stocks with limited holding periods.

And i went off for a forex talk by Kishore M from PowerUp Capital. This guy certainly can talk. Well, he seems like a motivational speaker to me and had a marvellous tongue. During his 1 hour talk at seminar 2, he shows video testimonials of his students praising him, rather than information with the crowd.

After his 1 hour seminar, i learnt that he had a mini ballroom with a 2 hour talk, which i went, feeling pretty excited that i might be able to snatch a tactic or so from the guru. A free booklet and CD was given to people who attended the close door seminar.

The close room talk to me, was similar to the open seminar conducted by him in the main hall. This close door seminar was more of a sales talk than educative talk which i was expecting. A lot of testimonials were shown to lure you to sign up with the course.

He informed the public that he will be sharing 4 of his trading methods. Which he did share, with extremely vague description.

Something like,

Tactic 1 : ABC DEF of trade
with a 1 line description.

His sales talk, was #1! He will slowly sway you into the final action, which was to sign up for his course, asking you to perform small persuasive actions which you will not have noticed.

His favorite question to us, "Yes or Yes" , never a yes or no. "True or True", Never a False ~_~

The course fee was just "affordable", in my humble opinion, at S$328/ month for 1 year. The first fifteen people that signed up will get a netbook free with all the charting software. and US250 in their trading account. Marvellous deal, am i right?

Considering the cost of a netbook at around S$600 and USD$250=~350, we will get a discount of $950 off. Which reduces the final course fee to S$2986. Seems like a valued course for forex courses which usually lingers around the range of S$4k

I almost signed up straight on the spot, til to his excellence sales talk. Since sunday is a last day to sign up, me as a typical human, procasinate on my actions.

Upon reaching home, i read the booklet, which provides 4 pages of basic forex information, and the rest? Kishore M's and his company's achievement as well as his other internet marketing business.

The CD? It provides information on 1 forex strategy, and some links to account opening and his 85 pages book "Get Rich Young Book" Pretty useful basic information again.

And being the online person, i google for "Kishore M review" and "Powerup Capital review"

Guess what i find? Try Googling yourself (=

  1. Good thing you didnt sign up for any forex course becos there is simply no substitute for hard work. One cannot simply trade successfully from merely attending forex courses. Why? becos most of these courses will teach you basic techniques which you can simply find from books and the internet. If you are serious about trading..go get some good forex books or do some research for good forex site. You'll learn more from these resources than from basic courses conducted by these so-called gurus. You'll save a lot of money too..these money you can later be used as seed captital for your forex trading.
Just remember that there is no substitute for hard work. Just take a minute to think..if the so called gurus are so successful in their trading..do you think they will let you know their techniques? Most make their money selling courses to naive people..who thought that simply by attending a short course..they would become rich when it takes successful traders years to accomplish. Its not so easy as that. Most gurus make money from selling courses instead. They rarely trade. A successful trader will not have time to teach..neither will he divulge his techniques which he spend thousands of man hours to develop. Most of the time will be spent researching and monitoring the market. Why..its more lucrative and relaxing that way than to deal with the hassles of conducting courses..providing support, logistics, living up to the promises given to the students, etc.

As a full time trader for many years..I honed my skills from years of trading..first learn the basic from books..then do demo trading..and later live trading. Along the way I develop my own proprietary trading system which I am currently using for all my trading and has been quite successful. As no trading system is 100% perfect..I am continuing to research and fine tune it..yes..it is hard work..but you will learn from it and you will find that success is much sweeter this way since you succeed through your own effort.
Tip: To be successful in developing your own trading system .. you need to think out of the box..dont follow the conventional way of thinking or you will just be the same as the majority of the 95% of traders who lose money.
If one works hard and have the passion for whatever he is doing..he will definitely succeed.

No..I dont teach and I have no intention of conducting any forex course ;-)

  2. Thanks for the advice.

I been reading on forex for the past few months from several sites and since the invest fair was around the corner, i thought, why not just pop by and see what the gurus had to offer from the conventional websites. And it happened that i chose Kishore seminar, due to timing.

And what happened during the seminar was recorded in the blog post above.

I agreed that no system is 100%, but kishore could boast of a 100% accuracy system.

and being a sales person for the past few years, from the way he preaches, i could understand sales talk, if you get what i meant.

Meanwhile, let us each develop our system and may we earn money together =D

And, I have no intention of finding a mentor at the moment ;-)

  3. To Maverick,

Good show mate !!!...I 100% support your thinking & thought about the so called Forex Courses & gurus alike...they really out to conned everybody...just like the MLM company's!!! banging on people's dream as their weapon to woo those naive sad souls out there...

I am also a newbie in Forex Trading, still learning as I go along...never been to any of the course, as I also find out every bits of information on the internet all by myself...

So again to Maverick I salute you & 100% support your notion...

    Aren't you contradicting yourself?

  5. Well, nope, i do not have PhD in english nor a pass in my A levels for my GP. Basically what i meant was that,

no system is 100% foolproof.. but this guy could boast of 100% accuracy system.

I did say he can boast, but i did not say i support Kishore M 's logic of a 100% system. If you read the next line following that, i am referring it as sales talk.

  7. Guys,

I know that Kishore M is PURE MARKETING PROFESSIONAL THAN A FULL TIME PROFESSIONAL TRADER.

If there was a system with 100% accuracy then WHY DOESNT HE MAKE 100% OF THE MONEY IN A DAY / WEEK. If the accuracy rate is 100% then in 3 / 5 years he should have been ahead of BILL GATES and George Soros.

Cheap and useless marketing techniques aimed at foolish people to fall in the trap.

KEEP AWAY FROM SUCH "SO CALLED" GURUS who can do nothing big in trading so landed up using their SHARP MARKETING SKILLS TO SELL CRAP AT THE PRICE OF GOLD.

  8. Kishore M is still loose in the internet. Alot of fans admire him for what he is doing. Teaching forex to every man on earth. He's fees are reasonable compared to other trainers. People who can't afford his course would usually say bad things about him. It's natural for humans to do so.

  11. Who is this Nick Lystyle? Is he just a student or is he a working professional who has experience in forex trading? I really appreciate some professional feedback here. Not from some teenage kid who does not understand forex seminars.

  13. I just attended Kishore's seminar last night. Oh my... i am soooo glad I didn't sign up on impulse. And luckily i had a female friend with me, who could detect a phoney easily.

The course which was meant to last from 7pm to 9.30pm, was dragged to 10.30pm, of which he 'self-praised' with tonnes of testimonies. The praises from 'his students' were written in such similar style and perfect English, it made me wondered were they all proteges of a British queen counsel. In short, i highly suspect that the testimonies are fake, a marketing company had most-probably written them on an assignment.

And yeah, he used a lot of his 'one-trick pony' cliches; 'is it a yes or a yes?', 'am I good or good?'...

He shared with us his sob-stories! Oh spare me, that must be the worst show I have ever seen live before my eyes. He tried to gain pity by telling us that he had to beg he way out when he lost his jobs twice in 1997 and 2000. Of course, his miracle was 'Trading' in stock. Really? A self-confessed guru with a double degree in IT and Finance could be reduced to the state of a vagabond, even after working in the Silicon Valley of California for many years? Think about it.

He later claimed that he secured a undisclosedly high amount of bank loan just to have his training on 'Derivatives'. (which potential students can benefit from him instantly) Hahahaha.... he said he had his education with the University of Berkeley! Just learning about derivatives? Who is he trying to fool? The principles of derivatives basically consist of "Puts" and "Calls" which describe the longs and shorts of future trading, it doesn't make up a course by itself in a unversity. (let alone Unversity of Berkerley) LOL... and since he is so flashy about his achievements, why didn't he put up his Degree from Berkeley on the projector?

Finally, he came to the closing. It was very badly done.... how he took a super-long detour just to tell us his price, beating about the bush and sneaked in many more testimonies. S$328.00 was the magic number that he wrote on the flip-chart. LO AND BEHOLD! when some people tried to sign up, sudddenly 2 of his assistants appeared and pasted some posters on the wall.
    It read, "S$328 X 12 months"

    ReplyDelete
  14. that's affordable really.

    ReplyDelete
  15. $328 for a one time course is cheap, multiply by 12, it does not sound affordable to some.

S$328 could be an entire month of food to some family.

  16. To the anoymous that posted the long comment, i recall why i avoid such courses or free seminar. It was due to a comment i saw online, not just for forex trading.

    Here it goes,
If they could make so much money in their respective fields, why are they still out there teaching? Most will have retired by then.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why do lecturer's lecture when they could be working in their field?

Teaching is both a service and a joy on top of what they are already doing well.

Perhaps they are retired. We don't know.

  18. I have yet to attend his course but i would say i believe the man himself is a good salesman. We,the ones commenting have the right to speak our mind but have we ever wonder what the man himself has in PLAN?What's his GOAL?What's his DREAM?What's his PASSION?i believe he has his right too,to implement and take action on what he plan.I am supportive of his way of selling looking from a entepreneur point of view,he mastered and sell his product with PASSION.A good role model!
