Cosmos Hotel Taipei Review - 天成大饭店

As you all know, i just came back from taipei. After experiencing 4 days of taipei again (i been there like 3-4 times within 3 years?), it is another different experience travelling with my gf's family.

Allow me to start with the boring topic of cosmos hotel taipei review which is also known as 天成大饭店 in taipei. I shall skip the boring details of how tall the building is and the picture of the hotel, which you are able to find on the internet.

Why this hotel?
A very interesting question.
Because the toilet is cleaner! And that the main reason my gf chose this hotel. While searching for hotels, we managed to find cheaper hotels, but as girls have high expectation for toilets, they chose this as other taipei hotels seems dirtier and one of the reviews we read managed that this toilet is expectionally clean.

Location
Cosmos hotel taipei is conveniently located beside Taipei Main Station at exit M3, which is also located beside Taipei Railway station. And Taipei Main Station is also an interchange for their metro trains to switch to other train services lines. Thus for us to go to Dan Shui 淡水,Ximending 西门町,Taipei City Hall 市政府,Daping Lin 大坪林,is extremely convenient, saves you the hassle of switching train services.

Fear nothing even as it rains, as you take less than a minute to reach the covers of Taipei Main Station. And only 5% of the walk is exposed due to the gap between the buildings, which is around 2-3 steps.

Room Services
Our cable TV was down on the first night, not a single channel can be watched. But since we were not too concern with watching TV, we did not inform the reception to service the TV.

On the 2nd night, we called the reception to send a technician up to repair the TV and within 10 minutes, the technician arrived and did some testings and repair the cable box which allowed us to watch local channels, but not the paid channels which was supposed to be included in the hotel package. Which he promised us that on the 3rd day, we will be able to watch the paid channels.

True to his words, on the 3rd night, we had more channels to watch after he replaced the cable setup box while we were out shopping.

Great service from cosmos hotel taipei!

Room Facilities
- Safebox
- Paid Cable Programs
- bed
- hangers
- hand towel x1
- bath towel x1
- Floor towel x1
- Bath Tub x1 with anti slip map
- Sitting toilet bowl x1

Misc
Seems like at anytime from 7am - 12mn, there will always be people opening doors for you in the main reception hall at level one. (Are they called Door openers?)

If you are someone that is afraid to sleep in the dark and you need at least a light on, you might need an eye cover to cover your eyes while you are sleeping as it is pretty bright to me even with 1 light on.

If you need to switch on at least 1 light, the best available choice is usually leaving the door light on. Why not the toilet light? Cosmos hotel taipei toilet has a frosted glass which light can pass through even though you close the toilet door, thus brightening the room.

I will advise you to switch off the bathroom light and switch on the door light instead. The room will be slightly darker, thus making it easier for you to seep. But it is still bright to me as I need almost complete darkness befre i can sleep.

As with other hotels, the currency exchange rate is lousy!
Speaking of which, there are no currency exchanger in the area or the whole of taipei. We ran out of taiwan cash and wanted to change for more. However to our dismay, the only places to change currencies are the banks (Mon to Fri) and hotels only. Unlike singapore which had 1 store after every few streets to provide the service.

Personally i will rate the service at a 90/100 for Cosmos Hotel Taipei. And the facilities and location at 90/100

  2. Hi there

i forgotten the rates, but it was slightly more x as compared to other hotels.

but the facilities and location makes up for it. Definitely not a lot more, probably $50 more for the duration.

i have added a promotion from zuji, into the original post, which you can have a look.
