Singapore Rojak Poisoning

In case you been at home this few days, been overseas, or having been from cut of from the world, you will have notice the recently food posioning incident at a Geylang Indian rojak store.

In case, you are not from singapore and is wondering what the heck is a "Indian Rojak", it is a dish of a mixture of various ingredients such as cucumber, pineapple, potato, eggs, etc(too many to be named, you get the idea~) and ocassionally some seafood to enhance the taste.

As of 9th Apr 09, 146 poisoning cases have been reported (source AsiaOne) the victims are suspected to have eaten the prawns, cuttlefish or both. This is due to the "Seafood bacteria" that are only available in seafood. Unless the cook is cooked properly, the bacteria will survive.

Out of the 146 cases, 2 deaths have occurred and my codonlences to the families. I do not think that the rojak guy will be having good days as well, considering that the food he prepared that caused such a havoc in the rojak industry. He will have to bear the guilt of causing the death of 2 innocent people.

According to other news, the whole Geylang Seria market was closed for 2 days of cleaning. which i believe, will create much income loss for the hawkers.

I believe that this case occurs only the store owner is in a rush to prepare the rojak for his customers. Should he have taken some additional proper care and probably not cut corners to prepare food for them.

Or this might not be totally his fault, he could have been sabotaged by his competitors.
Is the store owner responsible? or other people? Who knows?
