Tips for Flu Prevention

These simple tips for flu prevention are applicable for most kind of flus in the world

The very basic protection and prevention method for flu. Wearing a mask prevents you from spreading the flu and contacting it from contact with your mouth and nose and even eyes.

New Disease - Restaurant City Flu

Seems like an epidemic had spread across my friends. Many are hit by this Restaurant City flu.
And its pretty viral.
My gf had been hit heavily by this, becoming an addict to this game. She had been pretty infectious. Spreading to her colleagues and having them asking me for eggs while i was working

I do not forsee a vaccine at this moment for us at the moment~
HELP~~

Swine Flu - Pig Flu

Diseases seems to be spreading all over the world. Especially the flu virus which can easily adapt into various forms. From bird flu, it mutated to bird-to-human flu, more famously known as the h5n1 virus. and now, its the swine flu, or the pig flu due to its source

this flu started its appearance in 1918 and in 1976, source (wiki) before making a mild appearance in 2007 in philipiness. and lately appearing in mexico in March 2009.
Deaths have been reported in North and South America and not yet in other areas. However, this swine flu has been suspected to spread to other areas and no deaths have been reported.

Seems like in the recently years, various kinds of diseases are sprouting out to test the resilience of the human race. AIDS, bird flu, SARS and now this pig flu, who knows what other disease will appear next.
Thanks to advance of biotechnology, vaccines are being produced swiftly enough, before the disease became worse and spreads and claim even more lives.
Ironically, it was due to the vaccines that evolves the viuses. The viruses, evolves and upgrade themselves to become immune to the vaccines that are available in the market. Take this swine flu as an example. The latest occurence of swine flu virus strain was a mixture of bird flu and swine flu.

who knows what disease will evolve in the future, just hope the biomedical teams are ready to produce the vaccine to clear out them out soon enough and various goverment will contain them in their own country. As long as proper precaution are taken, we should still be quite safe.

Just hope that the story plot of resident evil will not be a true story in the future!

Restaurant City in more details

spent some time on this game today at my gf house and discovered it is much more interesting then pet society (another game by producer of Restaurant City)

Restaurant City is not as dull as pet society where you play lame games with your pets and pet society is literally a no brainer game targetting at the females.

Restaurant City carries some of the features from pet society such as editing your avatar, personalising your restaurant, earning more mney, the graphics design, etc but here is all it ends.

Restaurant City, on the other hand, triggers some of your brain cells. your brain cells are needed in this game for
- seating arrangement
- earning money
- allocating your workers for different roles
- I shall skip the features where brainpower is not needed

Optimised seating arrangment will allow you to earn the maximum amount of money. this is probably the part that needs you to think the most as compared to others. As you levelled up in the game, you will have larger restaurant and the choice to employ more employees.
Depending on the size of your restaurant and the amount of employees, various placement of table options are possible.
1) 1 large single area
2) several small areas

Currently, i am able to hire 4 employees in Restaurant City. the current deployment are 3 cooks and 1 waiter as i discovered that the speed of cooking is much more important than the speed of service by the waiters.
The amount of time to cook a level 1 meal is around 32s. (i cant believe i actually count the timing)
The waiters are able to clear the plates in around 3s.
Thus, certainly you will need more cook to reduce the cooking time. If you have around 10 tables and you have only 1 cook, you will take 320s to finish cooking for the 10 customers. which is pretty long, and the customers do not have much patiences to wait for the dishes.

that all for Restaurant City now. will update if this game continues to spark my interest.

Facebook restaurant city

I was doing my outdoor sales when i saw the game restaurant city in facebook which my friend was playing

A SIMs game that a requires you to build your own restaurant, manage it and expand it, step by step.
Me being a Sim city game guy, but not "THE SIMS"  is certainly glad that this game exists in facebook.
Needless to say, i sign and register this game immediately to play it!!

play easy and simple to play and addictive. You hire your friends to work for you, and earn money from doing your cooking and serving of customers. you are able to decorate your restaurant exterior and interior. Change menus, increase menu list by getting ingredients.

Here at 2pm, and i have not eaten my lunch.. and i am still playing this game for the past 30mins

If you are interested in such games, go to http://apps.facebook.com/restaurantcity/?pf_ref=sb

Samsung Omnia i900 leaked lcd

Initially Samsung Omnia i900 was a marvellous phone, as per movie advertisement, it work really well..
Maybe because this was my 1st windows mobile phone, which i was totally impressed.

slowly, it started to behave like your typical desktop windows. Samsung Omnia i900 was becoming slower each day.

slower and slower, its touchpad starts to lose its sensitivity. liquid patches starts to appear on the lcd.

over the times, areas where the patches do not have any responses to my fingers. just like a viral infection, the unresponsiveness spread to the wrong lcd screen.
and i have to resort to use finger mouse, in order to send sms which was a painful and slow process.

and i am not the only one with this issue, a total of 3 other omnia 16gb users faced the issues. and have send their omnia for servicing.
The servicing process was surprisingly swift and was collected within 1 day. Maybe samsung expected this issue and prepared a lot of spare lcd to swap?

no one knows~

Maid in Singapore

Its pretty common in Singapore to have a maid to assist with household chores. And a maid, being a servant, is supposed to listen to their owner's instructions and carry their duties accordingly. However, they should not be opened to excessive scoldings or abuse.

On a bus trip on Sunday, i overheard a family scolding their maid and raising their voice at her for not having much initiative.  things which should be done on her own, example : looking after the kids, ensuring they behave well, take note of grocery petty cash and inform them when she is low on cash.

Well, talking and reprimanding the maid is easy, however, what will happen if
- the maid might grew up in an environment where she was physically punished or verbally abused whenever she does wrongs by her parents, then she might have implement the same steps to the children, which will result in her being scolded by her owners for scolding/hitting their kids!

- Usually, petty cash are small amount of money kept by the maid. they are usually depleted at a fast rate by buying household products such as , food, toiletries, household products. And usually, they will not allow the maid to keep a big sum of petty cash, thus the maid will have to constantly ask for money, which the owners might be wondering where the money goes to, and result in them not trusting each other.

As on today's new paper, the "trust" in relationship between maid and their employers seems to be dropping , the employers will install CCTVs and spy cam at home, while maids who are subjected to frequent abuse and scoldings often spits into food, add "extra" ingredients into food, vent their frustrations on little infants, etc.

In a way, i will say that the employers deserved such treatments from the maid. Why?
I believe in something called karma, and every action will lead to a certain consequence. A maid is a human, whom wants to work peacefully and remits money back home. Who will want to court trouble when they are alone overseas?  Am i correct?
Some of the maid employers will have the superiority feeling and starts to treat her (usually her) as an inferior race which leads to such actions.

If the employers treat the maid right, none of this should have happened. Thus i conclude its the action of the employer that caused all this to be done.

Treat someone the way you wanted to be treated and all will be well. Make sense?

Inflation

Went to my usual coffeeshop after jogging today and ordered my usual fried rice.
Cost : $3.50!! Increase by 50cents

and since i was very hungry, i decided to order peanut soup with red bean and sesame balls.
Signboard : $2
Cost : $2.10 !! 10cent for container, Previously when i ordered the container WAS free.

Times are bad, certainly a lot of small business are looking for ways to increase their revenue.

this brought me back to a lunch conversation i had with a financial planner (FP)friend.

FP : When do you wish to retire?
Me : 50
FP : How much do you want to spend per month after retirement
Me : 1000
FP : If you die at 85, you will need 1000 x 12 x 35 = xxxx amount
Me : correct
FP : however, you must take note of inflation. the $1000 monthly after 24years (i am 26 this year) will be 2000++ (close to 3000), thus instead of taking 1000 x 12 x35, (*counts) you will need 1 million plus. And this 1 million plus is exluding inflation during my last 35 years.

Note : Of cos our conversation are not that robotic, Details are extracted, the rest of the misc conversation are all ommited.

Pretty scary, but true.
Consider the cost of a stick of mentos in 1994 and now. If i never recall wrongly, in 1994 was only 50cents and now it should be $1.2 when i last checked.

thus i can conclude, in the next 50 years, almost all of us will be millionaires (=

Bus conductor

Recently if you ever notice, there seems to be a sprout of bus conductors on buses in Singapore.
Seems like every 3-5 bus i took in the afternoon, at least 1 conductor will be onboard to check for non-paying fare passenger or those that underpaid their fare.

For your info if you are not a singaporean, non-paying or underpaying passenger will need to pay S$20 if they are caught by the bus conductor.

Seems like by reducing our fare by S$0.02 and increasing fare rebates to $0.50 , they are deploying more conductors to earn it back. Or was i just that lucky to encounter so many conductors~? who knows? (=

I, myself, had been "caught" by a conductor before. I remember having tapped the card while i had boarded the bus, and the EZlink detector shown, "TRANSFER", however when i was checked, the conductor insisted that i was a non paying customer. What to do under such case of malfunction?

No choice, but to pay. Next day i tried to check my journey log at a Ticketing Machine, no luck, trip i took was not registered~

Just not my night then~ Thus since then, i had a minor phobia of conductors whenever they came to check for non-payers!

阿桑的死 - Death of a singer ah Sang

she was known for her melancholy songs, the most famous being "Leaves" or 叶子
Was reading thru some news, (maybe you can call it olds) then only i realised that she passed away due to cancer.

Maybe the news paper have reported, but me, being a computer monitor person, (means i do not watch tv or read chinese papers or tnp), i did not know about this til today.
According to this chinese news here, she discovered a lump in her neck in Oct 2008 and pass away on 6th of Apr.

Pretty shocking, cancer's a scary disease, it can simply transform a healthy person into skins and bones with 1/2 a year.

haisz~

6th month anniversary

Times flies, especially is when you are spending with someone you loved dearly.

on apr 12th ,ML and me had been together for 6months without noticing that we been together for this long

and the present for her is this

Annoying MSN virus

Ever receive annoying MSN virus? seems like its getting out of hands for me...

this few weekss, the worm messages send by my actual friends had doubled or even tripled and i have resorted to blocking them , however only a few of them were aware that they were sending this much spam messages out to their friends on IM.

However, they were pretty helpless about this, as their virus scanner had not reported any detections.

Here an example of 1, (Names blocked off to protect the identity of the poor spammer, as well as my own msn pic =D)

Some of the links are linked to websites, probably to generate traffic. while some of the spam messages will send files and by opening those files, you will have become part of the group. The big group of IM spammers.

Just take note not to open any weird files from your friends, even those that you chat frequently. You never know if its your friend or the spam bot sending virus to you!

Touching Advertisement

this is a piece of very soul touching which i discover on the Singapore TV.
Its about a mother describing the loss of her husband and the scene is set at a funeral, pretty rare for Singapore media to allow such taboo scenes.

Instead of me doing the talk, i let the video do the talking..

Grab some tissues (=

Singapore Rojak Poisoning

In case you been at home this few days, been overseas, or having been from cut of from the world, you will have notice the recently food posioning incident at a Geylang Indian rojak store.

In case, you are not from singapore and is wondering what the heck is a "Indian Rojak", it is a dish of a mixture of various ingredients such as cucumber, pineapple, potato, eggs, etc(too many to be named, you get the idea~) and ocassionally some seafood to enhance the taste.

As of 9th Apr 09, 146 poisoning cases have been reported (source AsiaOne) the victims are suspected to have eaten the prawns, cuttlefish or both. This is due to the "Seafood bacteria" that are only available in seafood. Unless the cook is cooked properly, the bacteria will survive.

Out of the 146 cases, 2 deaths have occurred and my codonlences to the families. I do not think that the rojak guy will be having good days as well, considering that the food he prepared that caused such a havoc in the rojak industry. He will have to bear the guilt of causing the death of 2 innocent people.

According to other news, the whole Geylang Seria market was closed for 2 days of cleaning. which i believe, will create much income loss for the hawkers.

I believe that this case occurs only the store owner is in a rush to prepare the rojak for his customers. Should he have taken some additional proper care and probably not cut corners to prepare food for them.

Or this might not be totally his fault, he could have been sabotaged by his competitors.
Is the store owner responsible? or other people? Who knows?

Virgin Post

Finally, i have start to reblog after being away from the blogworld for several years.

Played around and discovered interesting new features about blogger which includes having "adult settings".. hmm interesting.. wonder if it will disable my adsense account if i enable that, Cos if i never recall wrongly, adsense cannot be posted on webpages with adult material. Shall experiment with that later.

And do not comment on this site's layout being gayish, i was out of options for template setting.
I feel that as compared to other templates, this is the best one... lol

That's all for now
