nissan self healing paint
It is amazing! you never know what is in the brains of the japanese. From the extreme "action" movies they make to weird inventions they think of, their brains are sure creative!

And now another invention, the Nissan Self healing paint for mobiles. It was released somewhere in 2004-2005 for cars, but they decided to licence it to a japanese phone company, NTT DoCoMo.

Just like our livers, the paint is able to regenerate the color, caused by scratches, and remove the scratches.

Press release below

PRESS RELEASE:

NISSAN'S amazing "SCRATCH SHIELD" paint to be applied to mobile phones

- NTT DoCoMo to license "Scratch Shield" paint technology in Japan -

YOKOHAMA. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced it will license its breakthrough "Scratch Shield" paint to NTT DoCoMo, Inc. for mobile phone application in Japan. The self-healing paint, currently applied to certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles worldwide, was developed in collaboration with University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials Inc.

The Scratch Shield, a world first in paint technology, was commercially introduced in December, 2005. The Scratch Shield paint self-heals fine scratches and is capable of restoring the vehicles's paint surfaces overnight or up to a week's time in more severe cases. The Scratch Shield paint is also more scratch-resistant than conventional paint, therefore, contributing to a more durable and long-lasting paint coat.

This unique self-heal quality of the paint is ideal for mobile phone application, which is susceptible to scratches over daily use. NTT DoCoMo, Inc. will license the Scratch Shield for its mobile phones to be introduced in Japan, which will be a value-add feature for customers.

Nissan has been licensing its unique technologies for various non-automotive applications since 2004. Other technologies that have been licenced include the around-view monitor and far infrared image sensor. Nissan will continue to research and develop breakthrough tehcnologies that can benefit other industries, and promote these non-automotive applications globally.

Healthy Food for This Weekend

Did you have a stressful week at work? Tried to finish 5 days worth of work within 4 days?

Time to recharge yourself with this super health food!

Article as below
5 superfoods for better health

These five nutritional powerhouses should be in everyone's diet, says nutritional therapist Pooja Vig.

Here's why eating them will give your body the boost it may need.

Curry and other spices

If you often season your food with spices, give yourself a pat on the back now.

Spices, like turmeric (found in curry powder) and cinammon, are superfoods which are rich in active, health-giving compounds.

"Turmeric contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties and is a powerful antioxidant," says nutritional therapist and microbiologist Pooja Vig. "It protects the heart and brain from the effects of ageing and is believed to be a powerful cancer fighter."

Cinammon may lower blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes, say some preliminary studies.

Ms Vig, who heads The Nutrition Clinic in Singapore, recommends using spices liberally in foods. However, in some instances, it may be more beneficial to take spices via a concentrated source like a tablet or tea.

"Commercially available powdered cinnamon may not be as powerful if it has been sitting on the shelf for some time, so making a tea by using cinnamon stick and boiling it in water, becomes a good way of taking the spice," she says.

Fenugreek, which is good for heart health, can be quite hard to stomach because of its bitter taste and taking it in capsule form makes it easier to get the level of dosage.

Berries

They are great, low-sugar fruit with numerous health-promoting substances.

One good example is cranberries, which are excellent for preventing and relieving urinary tract infections (UTI) she says. Recurrent UTIs are dangerous as pyelonephritis - when infection has reached the pelvis of the kidney - can occur if the damage spreads.

For those suffering from recurring UTIs, Ms Vig suggests taking pure cranberry extracts that are completely free of sugar, artificial colouring and preservatives.

"Pure cranberry juice is sour and can be difficult on the palate, so many cranberry products have added sugar in them," she cautions.

Besides supplements, berries can also be easily incorporated into food by adding them to salads, cereals and smoothies, or just consuming them as a snack on its own.

Salmon

Healthy omega-3 fats in salmon can help to lower the risk of heart disease and retard memory loss and arthritis, says Ms Vig.

Ms Vig recommends consuming three servings of salmon a week, together with a daily fish oil capsule.

"Look out for a brand that thoroughly removes environmental toxins such as mercury while also giving high enough levels of the two (omega-3) active oils - eicosapentatonic acid (EPA) and docosohexanoic acid (DHA).

"For most healthy adults, a combined EPA and DHA of around 500mg is good," she says.

Probiotics

These healthy bacteria are excellent for gut health and for boosting immunity. They work by restoring the balance of gut bacteria and raise resistance to harmful germs.

Ms Vig recommends taking a probiotic supplement over food sources of probiotics.

"There is the issue of knowing if the healthy bacteria levels have been maintained during transport and when on the shelf," she says.

However, Ms Vig warns to start slowly if taking probiotic supplements for the first time.

"Some people do react and find that they experience constipation, bloating and diarrhoea. If that happens, lower the dose you are taking," she previously wrote in The Straits Times.

Fiber

The Health Promotion Board (HPB) has raised the recommended daily servings of wholegrains from one to three

Wholegrains are a good source of fibre, which helps to relieve constipation and lower LDL - or "bad" - cholesterol, says Ms Vig.

Other benefits of fibre include its ability to control diabetes - by reducing the post-meal rise in blood sugar - and weight gain as it helps you to feel full longer.

Besides wholegrains, fibre is found mainly in fruits, vegetables and legumes.

Unfortunately, 80 per cent of Singaporeans are not meeting their recommended daily fibre needs, which HPB says is 26g for men and 20g for women.

To meet these needs, Ms Vig suggests adopting a two-pronged approach of increasing fibre intake through supplements and food.

海猿 - 海防英雄 Sea Monkey in Maritime Safety Agency Comics Book review

海猿 - 海防英雄 Sea Monkey in Maritime Safety AgencyI did not think that with a comics book title called 海猿 (in chinese translation will be Sea Monkey), it will be interesting or nice to read. And it has a lame english tag called "The sea monkey in maritime safety agency"

The reason why i review on this manga? I feel that it is a waste that such a well drawn manga is left hidden and buried in history. Hence the blogging of this comics to share with the world.

With the picture on the left as it's cover image, it does not seems to be an interesting or addictive comics book. But was i wrong. Very wrong.

The 12 series manga explain how main lead grow from a puny and weak character, to become a diver who risks his life to save others.

After reading through the whole series, which is a collective and links stories which showcast the lead's bravery and growth, it manages to bring out strong feelings from me.

The content and the drawing of the comics draws me in deeply and I share the joyous feelings of the victims who were rescued as well as the helpless feeling when the lead was unable to save the distress. I feel the strong team spirit that exist within the rescue team. This book is able to bring out all the emotions which i never felt in a long time.

There were no good-guys-survive-in-the-end scenes. It has no fantasy endings nor superhuman power. Everything is realistic. What we human is unable to do, the main cast and the rescue team will not be able to do that too.

Every character has their own role in the comics and all support the growth the builds up the main character in one way or another

Not to joke, but you can feel the author's heart and soul while reading this series. Accidents scene were excellently drawn. With the unknown plot for each mini story (accidents), you will definitely wish to read to the end to the story to know what happened.

In the last rescue mission, it further bring out the bravery of the main cast and team which they have to rescue passengers from a plane that crashed into the sea within a certain timing, in the icy night sea.

Guess what happened? Did the lead die? Read this manga to find out yourself.

this is the online version of the comics in chinese.

And they even have a TV drama series!
http://www.douban.com/subject/2032930/

i certainly will be grabbing that if i manage to find the 海猿 DVD.

Don't miss this 海猿 - 海防英雄 Sea Monkey in Maritime Safety Agency by Sato Syuho 佐藤秀峰 if you like to a change from those fantasy plot manga.

Highly recommended!

Gigantic Size Chest Equal Confidence?

Recently i been keeping late nights, staying awake to do my stuffs. And most of the time, the TV is on, with my family watching channel 8.

And if you are keeping late nights too, an all-time familiar and irritating repetition "我现在更有自信“ phrase. Sound familiar? watch the youtube video for the answer

The ads implying that small endowment = loss of confidence? Possible.

But are women thinking that big size chest = lots of love by men? Possible... High chance are lots of love by men who equate women boob's size as women' intelligence.

If you are gonna do an insane operation just to over-enhance a superficial feature to the size of a watermelon or jackfruit, high chance your brain level is inversely proportional to the chest size you wanted.

anyway, found a funny flash video about the ABCs of you know what

12 Useless and Funny Cars Designs

It is a relaxing sunday morning and i feel lazy.

Saw a couple of car pics from another website and found them to be very interesting!

I am sure you have heard of BM(W), Mercs, toyota, honda, nissan. but how about beetle bug, Totally tubllar? And there is even one that look like a cockroach!

And are interesting and funny, while, some are just downright stupid. I wondered what is going in the inventor's brain when they are designing the car!

Hmm, what happened if the beetle bug car (above) drop into the mouth?

he could certainly drive this around during halloween.

Know Your Singapore Laws

Do you think you know your law in singapore very well? Check out some of the examples below for more information.

Never try to forge your own MC, unless you wanna get MC for 1 whole year, read below

Forging medical certificates
An employee forged medical certifcates issued by a clinic to support his absence from work. He was jailed for one year after he admitted to three counts of forgery for the purpose of cheating. He had forged the certificates by scanning the documents and reproducing copies on his computer. Fifteen other similar charges were taken into consideration by the Court for sentencing.

Running pornographic video shop
A woman was jailed 12 months and fined $170,000 for running a pornographic video shop.

Now this is heavy, i wonder how many disc the woman has to be fined 170k

Causing mischief
A woman splashed urine on the front door of a neighbour's apartment and was fined $1,500. She was caught in the act by a closed-circuit television. She could have been jailed for up to two years.

Now this is kinda dumb, she should look left and right before splashing. Don't she recall how her teachers teach her how to cross the road? Hmm, not her fault. They did not teach her to look up and down

Preventive detention - drug addicts
A man who had been in drug-rehabilitation centres eight times failed to report for urine tests at a police station. He was jailed for 18 months (9 months jail on each charge, with two terms to run consecutively. Lim could have been fined up to $10,000 and jailed for up to four years on each charge. Once he had been convicted of three or more offences, two sentences had to run consecutively.

He appealed and the CJ increased it to seven years. Lim had a history of convictions for rioting, armed robbery, causing hurt and theft. The CJ exercised his powers under section 216 of the Criminal Procedure Code to keep him in prison for as long as possible.

Sometimes, be happy with what you get and don't ask for more, ermm, ask for less as in the case above

By the way - do you know what is passing off?
Nippon Paint introduced its "3-in-1" multi-purpose wall paint in 1995. In 1999, ICI Paint launched a new paint "Supreme 3-in-1". Nippon Paint cried foul and sued ICI for passing off its paint as the original "3-in-1". ICI Paint cans have a colourful and completely distinct and different look and could not be confused with Nippon's. The court dismissed the claim. It held there is nothing inventive, novel or unique in the "3-in-1" expression. It is merely a descriptive term.

There are so many 3-in-1 out in the market, including 3-in-1 coffee, why just wanna sue your competitors? Be peaceful and wish for world peace!

Night Market or Pasar Malam in Singapore

night market in singapore
Night market or pasar malam in Singapore never fails to attract me to go at least once. Although they are selling the same thing over and over again. They never fail to fascinate me.

The typical stalls, selling mattresses, pillows, cabinets, home ornaments, nail cutters, scissors, clothings and food.

When going to night market, the mentality is usually, cheap cheap and cheaper price. But recently, the pricing of some items at the night market kinda shocked me.

I saw a stall selling cabinets, wooden dressers, tables and chairs. Well, that typical, a mini furniture stall. What shocking is that they are selling at ikea prices and at your typical neighbourhood furniture stall prices.

A glass table goes for 200+ and a large wooden dresser costs 600~700+. If i never remember wrongly, on my recent ikea trip, similar size dresser costs 200-300+. Well, probably the one on sales at the night market is full wood. But2x more the price. Hmmm.

Even the ramly burger seem to increase their price to $3
If you are wondering that is, it is a 2 piece of bread with egg wrapping chicken/beef meat, with sweet and sour sauce and chilli.

Seems like prices at night market are getting more expensive.. Not longer the cheap bargains and cheap food anymore.

Get 1.25 months of Jail for Each stab

Now this is a joke. Only 5 Years in job for a murder case. Well, it is not your typical murder of a stab to the heart or smash to the brain.

It is a gruesome 75 stabs and being whacked with a dumb bell.

Why only 5 years, because the judge has ruled that the man was drinking and had no idea what he was doing during the murder!

Now that a crap excuse and lame reason for a 75 stabs murder! This judge have justice? You judged!

As the father of the dead girl mentioned “This is not justice, this is injustice. You can’t give the same sentence for killing someone as for stealing a bicycle,

I strongly agree with what her father said. And, if you were to break down, it is only 1.25 months of jail per stab!

Read More below
========================================================

"Buenos Aires, Sep 13 (EFE) A court in southern Argentina sentenced a man to five years in jail for killing his girlfriend by stabbing her 75 times and beating her with a dumbbell, media reports said.

In a unanimous verdict that was harshly criticised by the prosecuting attorney and the victim’s family, the judges ruled that the deliberate drinking of alcohol before the crime made Ramon Sosa, 32, behave negligently and without criminal intent.

“We can find no way to understand the reasoning of the court,” prosecutor Eduardo Luis Rodriguez Trejo said. He had asked for a sentence of 15 years in jail and said that he will appeal the ruling handed down Thursday by the court of the city of General Roca.

Sosa received the maximum sentence established by the Penal Code for manslaughter, while the prosecution had initially asked that he be found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, considering that the defendant well understood the criminality of what he was doing.

The judges took into account Sosa’s defence, that he told psychiatrists he remembered what happened before and after killing Laura Nahuelcar, 22, but not what happened while he was brutally attacking her.

After committing the crime at his home in General Roca Feb 27, 2008, the man went outside and told a neighbour what happened and before the police arrived tried to commit suicide by slitting his veins.

During the trial the motive of the homicide and the relationship between Sosa and Nahuelcar were never established, since no one in the victim’s family knew who he was, but police who arrested him on the night of the murder said Sosa told them he killed the woman because she had been unfaithful to him.

“This is not justice, this is injustice. You can’t give the same sentence for killing someone as for stealing a bicycle,” said the victim’s father Juan Carlos Nahuelcar, who also intends to appeal the court’s decision.

In Argentina, appeals against acquittals or adverse rulings to the prosecution’s case may be lodged with the Supreme Court of Justice.

Door to Door Ice Cream Selling Student

Eating an ice cream is certainly enjoyable isn't it? How aboout going door to door to try to sell ice creams instead?

Tough job? Certainly, going every single floor and knocking on doors to sell the ice cream. And seems like it is the trend now, getting students to work part time to try to sell ice cream.

For the past 3-4 months, i think i encountered them at least twice when i am at home, probably more, if i am the one opening the door.

And today, i got another gang of ice cream gang students trying to sell me ice cream again. And this time, 5 girls and 1 poor guy pulling the trolley.

Basically, there is no sales talk by them, but tons of ice creams and pleases to try to get me to buy, and pulling the no-sales and pleasesss face. But too bad, I am looking for ice cream in tub (plastic container) size even if i wanted to buy, not the thin cardboard size, which the ice cream might leak out.

Probably it is a commission based job, but how much boxes of ice cream could they sell in a freezing night, especially if it just rained heavily in the afternoon?

A HDB flat has an estimation of 100 households, which if 10% buy (which i feel on the higher end), will be 10 household.

No, they are not the girls trying to sell me ice cream. It just an image about LG phones which i found on the net on ubergizmo.com

And even if the ice cream sales girls look like that, they probably will not be able to tempt me to buy too. Because i just want it in container size~

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November

Remember, remember the fifth of november.

Saw this phrase on my friend's msn and recall the show, V for vendetta. Watched it long ago in an extremely cold cinema.

Yes, it was freezing cold, and me and my friend were having chattering teeth while watch the show.

So what is the fifth of november? Well, it is Guy Fawkes Night.

It is a day in 1605, where a bunch of people, guy fawkes included, attempted to destroy the house of parliament in britian. And luckily the plot failed.

And it is a cause for celebration due to the failure!

Nowadays, bonfires are held on guy fawkes day. For some countries, they even play with fireworks~ Too back it is banned in singapore, and no one celebrates this day anyway.

I heard of friends who ask me to go out for drinking on birthdays, new year eve, christmas, hari raya, national day, but none on guy fawkes day.

Anyways, to those celebrating and enjoying, happy guy fawking Night!

Eating And Drinking is Not Allowed On MRT

Eating Drinking
Oh My God, A few month passed and this issue is still ongoing.

The Ms Ma below, highlighted in red, seems to be too damn free to suggest an SMS service to report and catch people.

Does she really think the service is free? Or the fines will be used to offset the cost of hiring a few personals to monitor the sms service?

In the end? "Due to recommendation of Ma Xiao Jie or Ma Tai Tai or Mai Po, we have no choice but to pass the cost of maintenance of cleanliness to the public for you to enjoy a better ride"

Possible? That a possible scenario.

Auntie or miss, you want to be a good citizen, okay, but know your limits, Don't overdo things, leave a road for people to leave. Don't be too harsh, or 1 day, the arrow you shot will shoot back at you.

HOWEVER, if i saw a bugger that is eating like that on the train. Enough said. I pay u money, we all SMS together :D

Here the story
===============================

SINGAPORE: It has been three months since train operator SMRT stepped up checks on commuters eating and drinking on trains, and the numbers caught each month have fallen dramatically.

From a high of 721 offenders caught in the first month — exceeding the total of 595 caught for the whole of last year — the figure fell to 183 in the second month. In the third month of the crackdown, just 96 were handed Notification of Offence (NOO) slips by train officers.

From July 15, SMRT had beefed up the enforcement of its longstanding rule on no—eating and no—drinking on trains by increasing staff patrols during off—peak hours. It had also said the measures would remain in place until there was a "sharp reduction" in offenders.

A spokesperson said: "We are happy to note the sharp decline in NOOs issued (after the first month), which we believe is a result of greater awareness of the rule."

But is it a case of the message getting across swiftly, or of stricter enforcement fizzling out after an initial blitz?

The spokesman said the number of checks by staff has been "constant". As for whether the latest numbers were low enough for SMRT to consider easing up on patrols, the spokesperson would only say: "We will continue with enforcement efforts and monitor the situation closely."

Commuters said they had noticed fewer people eating on trains, although some bad behaviour persists.

Executive assistant Chen Yan Bin, 23, attributed the drop to the news of enhanced enforcement and commuters ratting on offenders. But she has seen "aunties taking a whole packet of nuts, cracking them and eating them on the train".

Administrative assistant Mas said weekly sightings of people blatantly eating were the norm previously. "These days, there are fewer of them, and most are just popping a mint or sipping water", said the 36—year—old, who takes the train on weekdays between Admiralty and Outram Park.

While she supports the SMRT’s measures, Ms Mas suggested that an SMS service be set up to allow commuters to be the eyes of the operator on board the trains.

"Signs with the text number could be put up, and commuters can then tell SMRT which station and which carriage the offender is at," she said.

Having An Aim and Motivation

How does that feel to live your life just to wake up to go to office, look forward to lunch, look forward to end job to go back to rest or relax with friends and repeat the cycle until friday. And relax 2 days, before repeating this endless cycle.

Well, that sounds like a rat running on wheels. And without any final aims, running in an endless cycle seems even more tireding.

Everything change if you have a final aim for all your work done. However, do not aim for something that is skyhigh if not you will suffer the stress and burnout while trying to achieve that aim.

That is what is happening to me! Placed too big of a goal and suffer some mini burnout while working towards it. Recently, resetted and break down the extremely huge goal into something smaller.

As you can see from the left sidebar, i have placed a goal of going to europe for a holiday trip. Now at least i have a smaller goal! By breaking down the goals into something smaller, it will be much easier to manage. From now, until June~ it is around 7 months. Which i set a small goal of 5.5k. Which i must have an extra income of 785 per month.

Now, that sounds reasonable and much more feasible, and i feel much more motivated to finish off that goal!

I placed my goals. So have yours? :)

112 year old Somalian Man Marries 17 year old girl

Oh my God, another case where the frail bones marry the young. Remember my old post post about an
107 year old woman marrying a 37th year old guy as her 23rd husband?

This is, it is about an 112 year old man marrying a 17 year old girl. Either the girl is stupid, or she is sold by her family for money, or she is just waiting for him to die off so that she can claim the inheritance.

And what kind of love could he provide that no one love can?? :)

MOGADISHU (AFP) - – A man claiming to be 112 married a 17-year-old at a ceremony in central Somalia, his sixth wedding in total but his first in three quarters of a century, he said Thursday.

"My wife is ten times younger than me but we love each other so much and I believe that I can give her the kind of love that not any young man can offer," Ahmed Mohamed Dhore told AFP.

"Married life is about love and passion rather than age and beauty," said the centenarian, whose wedding ceremony in the town of Guriel was attended by hundreds on Wednesday.

"The first time I got married was so long ago I cannot remember and the last time must have been about 75 years ago, I was still a young man," he said.

Dhore would have already been an adult when the nationalist leader "Mad Mullah," Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, who fought the British empire and created the Dervish state died in 1920.

He said the secret to a longevity spanning three different centuries was "healthy food when he was young".

"I'm 112 and can live the life of a youngster... The idea to get married again came from my children and grand-children," he said, explaining that his only other surviving wife was 90 and ailing.

According to statistics by international aid and development agencies, the average life expectancy of a Somali male is 47.
